LINACARE's first products are a highly effective family of moisturizing creams that were developed in 1991 by its chief scientist and co-founder Dr. Henry Fung, a medical doctor and a Harvard trained research scientist and pharmacologist. As a physician who specializes in internal medicine and kidney diseases, he was looking for a way to treat the chronically dry, itchy skin experienced by many of his patients who were suffering from serious kidney problems. These patients often found commercially available moisturizing products ineffective. His solution was simple - adequate moisture replenishment and keeping the moisture in the skin was the answer. He set out on a mission: to develop for his patients a non-allergenic, non-greasy, fast absorbing cream that provided the longest lasting moisturization available.
